Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, has just announced that they’ve acquired North American rights to “Kill List” director Ben Wheatley’s latest, the period horror film “A Field In England”, with plans to release it on VOD and theatrically sometime this year. They’ve also released a new poster for the film (below).
Wheatley’s breakthrough film was the horror flick “Kill List”, which he followed up with “Sightseers” and recently, the horror anthology “The ABCs Of Death”. The director is already at work on what is probably his most expensive film yet, the sci-fi actioner “Freak Shift”.
A Field In England follows a group of English Civil War soldiers in the 17th century who are captured by an alchemist and led into a vast mushroom field, where they fall victim to violent and nightmarish forces.
“A Field in England” stars Reece Shearsmith (“The League Of Gentlemen”), “Kill List’s” Michael Smiley and features Julian Barrett (“The Mighty Boosh”) in a small role.
