Hey, remember the Robert Schwentke-directed “R.I.P.D.”? No? Well you’re not the only one. Despite a July release date set for this year, there hasn’t been anything on “R.I.P.D.” whatsoever, which is quite surprising given that the movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, and from the sounds of it, it could be one of those sleeper hits the way Schwentke’s last movie, “Red” with Bruce Willis turned out to be. I don’t think many people expected “Red” to launch a franchise, but it did. The same could probably happen to “R.I.P.D.”. Hey, look what happened to “Men in Black”, a film that “R.I.P.D.” seems to have a lot in common with, and which was also based on a comic book no one has ever heard of, and went on to blow up. (Of course, it probably helped that that other movie had Will Smith…)
Anyways, check out the first poster for Universal’s “R.I.P.D.”. I’d like to see a trailer for this thing, because this poster isn’t exactly selling it. Look, shiny guns!
A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.
“R.I.P.D.” also stars Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Robert Knepper, James Hong, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Szostak, Devin Ratray, and Larry Joe Campbell.
Resting in peace this July 19, 2013.
