Bryan Fuller’s “Mockingbird Lane”, his since-aborted reboot of “The Munsters” TV series for NBC, doesn’t actually look like “The Munsters” if those images we recently posted were any indication. Okay, the niece (played by an actress whose real name sounds ironically very appropriate for the part) kinda looks like the niece from the old show, but she’s basically the only thing that looks familiar. The rest? Eh.
Well, you’ve seen the pics, now check out NBC’s first promo trailer for the show. It’s only 30 seconds, but like the pics, it is so un-“Munsters” like that it was probably a REALLY good idea to change the show’s title from “Munsters” to “Mockingbird Lane”. Heck, if they hadn’t told everyone this was a “Munsters” reboot, people would just assume it was “inspired” by “The Munsters” and not keep harping on the fact that it looks nothing like, you know, that show.
Anyways. Check out the 30-second TV spot for the “Mockingbird Lane” Halloween TV special, set to premiere later this month on October 26th. I can see NBC deciding to go ahead with a show if the special does gangbuster ratings. That, uh, doesn’t seem all that likely, alas.
“Mockingbird Lane” was directed by Bryan Singer and stars Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn.
