First Set Pic from David Slade’s Twilight: Eclipse

Hard to believe, but David Slade and company have already wrapped production on the third “Twilight” movie, “Eclipse”. As a gift to the fans, Slade later tweeted this pic of new “Twilight” castmember Xavier Samuels, who is playing a character name Riley Biers in “Eclipse”. In the third movie, Bella and Edward are reunited, but their forbidden relationship is threatened by an evil vampire still seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Bella is forced to choose between her true love for Edward or her friendship with Jacob Black as the struggles between vampires and werewolves continues. Oh right, like you’ve never hard to make that choice. Whatever.

Slade’s “Eclipse” bears its fans next year on June 30, 2010.

Please someone get a note over to David Slade to correct the hideous makeup job on the Cullens in New Moon. In New Moon (which was magnificant grant you) all of the Cullens look frightening and ghoulish (not beautiful as the book describes them).

The reason that they are supposed to fit in among humans is because they believably look like “very beautiful” humans with “pale” skin and golden eyes. Not so in New Moon. Their makeup was way too white, eyes too noticably red-gold to believe that anyone wouldn’t run if they saw them. Most striking was Rosalie who is supposed to be the most unbelievably beautiful, who during the “family vote” scene, looked scary.

Please Spade, put them back to what they looked like in Twilight or improve on what they look like in New Moon. It was distracting to watch. And for heavens sake, get someone to fix Alice’s wig. It was old lady hideous for no reason. The girl is drop dead gorgeous. FIX THIS PLEASE.

    Thanks. Cant wait for Eclipse.

Me Michele – Girl, thanks for writing about this. I am so upset with the ridiculous makeup on vampires. Please someone please send a note to David Slade about that. Riley’s pic here looks nice and he’s a vampire so I’m dearly hoping that Edward does not look like a circus clown with white paint on his face. How do we email the crew to send this message?

Oh My! Thanks for bringing this up, Me Michele. In New Moon, the vampire makeup was horrible. The most “dazzling” person in the whole wide world (Edward Cullen) looked ghostly because of the white makeup and yellow eyes. What is that all about? It is not easy to make Robert Pattinson look bad, but the director (Chris Weitz) even managed to do that! Also what happened to the beautiful music of Carter Burwell from Twilight Score? Bella’s Lullaby and other known tracks from Twilight should have been reused to make more connection to the audience. I also feel that Chris Weitz could not portray the love between Edward and Bella, who are supposed to be the “star crossed lovers.” Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke at least portrayed that special relationship nicely.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so mad that they screwed up the make up by making them look tan and buggy eyed. It looked aweful not to mention that they totally looked like vampires.I thought they were supposed to look like they could fit in other than the sparkely thing. That was so retarded. Don’t get me wrong. New Moon was awesome. Why is tan so great? Do we all have to be tan with blond hair and blue eyes? Us pale people need some love too.

      Michelle..

I couldn’t agree with you more!!! Who is in charge of makeup in the Eclipse movie? Honestly, Robert Pattinson looked HORRIBLE. His eyes were hardly ever open, his makeup was WAY too white, and I hated his wardrobe too. It almost ruined the movie for me. He looked like THE JOKER! And I LOOOOOOVE Edward! The Twilight makeup and wardrobe was a million times better.

I agree with Michelle. The makeup was off, too white, and the eyes were distractingly obvious. They are supposed to fit in “beautifully” not stand out in a bizarre way. Just tone the make up down some. Also I hope you will find a different composer than Desplat. He was too “formal” for this youthful film. Like not very good French wine. With the exception of The Meadow the score was not near as memorable as Carter Burwell’s. His simple melodies were perfect for first love and the natural qualities of the Pacific Northwest. I loved his use of drums. There was and naturalness that reflected forest and the Indian culture that drew you in nicely. Also, I sort of missed the blue cast of Hardwicke’s original film. Especially the cool sweeping airial shots of the forested mountains. It made you feel that something “otherworldly” and mysterious could happen. Finally, I will say that because of the “natural” sensibility that exists in that part of the country I have to say I was never for the CGI wolves. I always thought it would be better to try to make it work with real wolves. On the Twilight blue ray disc there is a music video called “Bell’s Lullaby remix” it shows the wolves coming forth from flashes of light. Very cool. Kind of reminded me of the Northern Lights. And the way the forest was used superimposed on the characters. Also nice use of black and white as well as water. All the elements were there. Anyway that is my 2 cents for what it’s worth. Good luck.

I also agree,Rosalie’s wig was dreadful and what happened to Mike? my gosh he looked old and fat.
Bella and Edward did not have the passion and desire they showed in Twilight. I was not taken in by the characters at all. I was also aware that Bella’s picture window was not the same either, a small thing but hey, lets keep real to the original.
Maybe what happened was that the actors were a bit to sure and didn’t make enough effort to get it right.
