This is a rather odd trailer for Ben Stiller’s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. This is supposed to be a comedy, right? There are bits in the trailer that makes it look like a comedy, but then there are moments where you think Stiller, who also directs, is trying to branch out as a director, embracing his Paul Thomas Anderson circa 1999-2002, if you will. Of course, it could just be the music. I don’t know what song that is, but it really gives the film a strangely subdued vibe.
So is Walter Mitty really running around the planet or is he daydreaming? Not a clue. Check out the trailer below and see if you can figure out what’s going on.
Ben Stiller directs and stars in THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY, James Thurber’s classic story of a day-dreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker (Kristen Wiig) are threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined.
Starring Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, and Sean Penn.
Find out Walter’s secret life this December 25th.
