First Star Trek Into Darkness Poster Reveals a Shadowy One-Man WMD

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Movie Teaser Poster

According to a previously released official synopsis for J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness”, Benedict Cumberbatch is playing a “one man weapon of mass destruction”. And from the looks of this first poster for the upcoming sci-fi sequel, ol Cumby has definitely created quite the mass destruction.

And yes, the whole “The Dark Knight Rises” shtick is obvious with the poster design, but then again, you probably read that at a thousand other sites already. It’s a no-brainer, no? I guess you could say this “Star Trek Into Darkness” poster is “boldly going where ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ has already gone”. Get it? Ahem.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Peter Weller, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch, and blasts back into theaters May 17, 2013.

And now the wait for a proper teaser/trailer starts. Hoping it’s in front of “The Hobbit”

It’s supposed to be, but I’ve be disappointed by such promises many times before. >_<

Anyway, still curious if they're going for an old villain re-tooled or a new one. Seems all the money is still on either Khan or Gary Mitchell.
