I personally thought “Kill Bin Laden” was a better title, but what do I know. The people who are in the know have titled Kathryn Bigelow’s hunt for bin Laden movie “Zero Dark Thirty”, which I suspect is a real-life military term or code name (or some such) involved in the operation to kill the Al-Qaeda leader. In any case, here’s your first look at a teaser trailer for the film, which was shot and completed in the relative dark, a hard thing to accomplish in today’s blogosphere world.

Mind you, not that the film didn’t get its share of free publicity. It will end up being the first Hollywood movie about the killing of Osama Bin Laden by the now-legendary Navy SEAL Team 6, which is quite a feat given the dozen or so Navy SEALs movie rushed into production in the aftermath of Bin Laden’s death. The film also got plenty of attention from non-movie folks who wanted to know just how much inside material to the highly classified operation Bigelow and company got from a White House eager to take full credit for the killing ahead of the upcoming November Presidential elections. (Perhaps as a concession to those people, the movie won’t open until December, well after the elections.)

As for the movie itself, “Zero Dark Thirty” looks damn cool. But make up your own mind by viewing the teaser trailer below. Please to enjoy.

The star-studded cast includes Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong, Scott Adkins, Jennifer Ehle, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Taylor Kinney, Harold Perrineau, Jason Clarke, Édgar Ramírez, Frank Grillo, Mark Duplass, and Stephen Dillane.

Osama’s days are numbered December 19, 2012.

They didn’t really show enough in that trailer to let me decide if I really want to see it or not.
