MTV’s been teasing this brief teaser trailer for Gary Ross’ “The Hunger Games” all week long, and it’s already made its debut at Sunday’s VMAs. But in case you missed it, here it is below. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, and from what I can tell, the teaser follows her already in the woods of the Hunger Games fleeing other tributes (her Hunger Games competitors trying to kill her) and fireballs, which are all part of the fun and games. Well, if you’re not being forced to play it, that is. We’ll post a better version when the studio releases it, which should be either Monday or sometime this week would be my guess.
Until then, this embed from MTV will have to do. The official version is now below.
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Sutherland, and Lenny Kravitz.
Survival favors the bold March 23, 2012.
