I’m told that not everyone saw this “Man of Steel” teaser trailer in front of their showing of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises”. I didn’t see it myself, because they don’t show previews at screenings. For those of you (and me), here it is, the official, non-bootleg teaser trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. I gotta admit, the first minute or so surprised me. It looks more like some gritty drama about a fisherman than a comic book movie about a guy in tights. If this holds true for the rest of the film, this might be a very different looking Superman movie than we were all expecting. Then again, it is just a teaser, so probably best not to read too much into it. In any case, enjoy your first glimpse of Superman, folks. Update: There are actually two versions of the teaser trailer, one with voiceover narration by Kevin Costner, and the other with Russell Crowe, both playing over the same teaser trailer footage. Check them both out below.
Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Ayelet Zurer, and finally soars into theaters next year, June 14, 2013.
