Superman Man of Steel (2013) Movie Image

I’m told that not everyone saw this “Man of Steel” teaser trailer in front of their showing of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises”. I didn’t see it myself, because they don’t show previews at screenings. For those of you (and me), here it is, the official, non-bootleg teaser trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. I gotta admit, the first minute or so surprised me. It looks more like some gritty drama about a fisherman than a comic book movie about a guy in tights. If this holds true for the rest of the film, this might be a very different looking Superman movie than we were all expecting. Then again, it is just a teaser, so probably best not to read too much into it. In any case, enjoy your first glimpse of Superman, folks. Update: There are actually two versions of the teaser trailer, one with voiceover narration by Kevin Costner, and the other with Russell Crowe, both playing over the same teaser trailer footage. Check them both out below.

Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Ayelet Zurer, and finally soars into theaters next year, June 14, 2013.

I’m guessing that was the first part of the trailer. But considering what i just saw…i liked it a lot. Only one thing on my mind…why do most of the films that Nolan has connections to, show the main hero in a sort of a self exile? I’m not saying thats bad, just wondering:D As for the footage..once again ….NICE!!! Can’t wait to see more.

Movie looks great but the teaser I saw last night had a much better voiceover, with dialogue from Russell Crowe. Strange that it’s different in this online teaser.

From what I’m reading, there might be two versions, one with Kevin Costner’s VO, and the other with Russell Crowe’s…

Definitely harkens to same sort of trials-of-the-hero-as-he-finds-his-path-in-the-world vibe Nolan gave us in “BATMAN BEGINS”, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A really good introduction to Zack Snyder’s version of Superman. Now, we just need to see Metropolis and Supes in action against Zod……

    I’m somewhat dissapointed!

Don’t get me wrong… I like what I saw. My dissapointment comes from watching the Comic Con SUPER AWESOME footage to… THIS??

I agree this is a teaser trailer, but they just put zero Superman until the end, with a shot that completely nullify the tone of the trailer. What not include the magnificent shot where you can see Superman at a distance, and then you can see his boots and cape from the back? That would have been way more powerful.

But let’s say I can forget that. What I can’t let pass is the fact they use a LORD OF THE RINGS tune for it!!!!! Why not better a Harry Potter tune, or ET!!? Why not use the exact same tune they used for Comic Con?? THAT was magnificent, and it was Hans Zimmer!!.

The film is going to rock, but this trailer was a step back for me.

well, at least they didn’t use the philip glass’ “mad rush”. I will definitely see this, but I’m skeptical of Snyder’s work. His visuals and action sequences are top notch, but he’s got a ways to go to reach Nolan at story telling and pacing, ie raising Superman to levels of the last three Batmans.

I’m looking forward to this! Great teaser. Hopefully we’ll see Zod in the next trailer.

The teaser wants to tell something : see the differences between all the scenes and… the last.

      I don’t follow

You can usually tell it’s a Zack Snyder movie ten seconds into a preview. Not this time though

He’s definitely trying to do something different. Here’s to hoping that he succeeds! Superman deserves better.
