This first official trailer for Angelina Jolie’s WWII drama “Unbroken” comes at a somewhat bittersweet moment, as the man whose life the movie chronicles, Louis Zamperini, recently passed away. The good news is that he lived a very long and healthy life, and got to meet Angelina Jolie to boot, which let’s face it, isn’t something every 97-year-old can boast. The bad news, of course, is that he won’t get to see a whole lot of people enjoy his life story on the big screen.
Thanks for everything, Louis. Here’s hoping the movie does you justice.
Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces Unbroken, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s (“Seabiscuit: An American Legend”) enormously popular book, Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini’s unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.
Starring Jack O’Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Garrett Hedlund, Finn Wittrock, John Magaro, Alex Russell, and Miyavi.
Forever unbroken this December 25th.
