No, seriously. Check out the very first teaser trailer for the Wachowskis’ “Jupiter Ascending”, starring Channing Tatum as a space super soldier or some such and Mila Kunis as the poor human girl who has the fate of the universe in her hands. It all sounds like a YA novel turned movie, and I’m frankly shocked that it isn’t. After a couple of bombs since “The Matrix” movies, I’m sure the Wachowskis are hoping this one sticks with audiences. I personally loved “Cloud Atlas”, but apparently only I and a bunch of foreigners did, cause that movie did almost no business Stateside.
And Sean Bean is in this one, so you know what that means — spot how Sean Bean will die time!
Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
Starring Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, James D’Arcy, and Tim Pigott-Smith.
Jupiter ascends next year July 25, 2014.
