I don’t know what I was expecting — maybe something more? I dunno, but this looks a bit underwhelming, more like an extended TV episode of the “Justice League”, but perhaps not even of that standard. I’m also not a fan of the animation or bad guys that laugh maniacally while talking to themselves. The whole thing looks like they’re aiming it at a very young audience, which would be a bit of a detour from the previous movies from D.C./Warner, which have always managed to skew older. In any case, check out the first trailer for “Justice League: Doom”, currently making its premiere over at the New York Comic Con.
Justice League: Doom finds Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg and Batman on their heels when a team of super villains discover and implement the Dark Knight’s “contingency plans” for stopping any rogue Justice League member. The story is inspired by Mark Waid’s much-heralded “JLA: Tower of Babel.”
Featuring the voice talents of Nathan Fillion, Claudia Black, Olivia d’Abo, Michael Rosenbaum, Alexis Denisof, Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Phil Morris, Paul Blackthorne, Carl Lumbly, Carlos Alazraqui, Bumper Robinson, David Kaufman, and Susan Eisenberg. Directed by animated movie vet Lauren Montgomery.
Landing on DVD and Blu-ray in 2012.
