Apparently Japan is in danger and only a tall, lanky white guy named Keanu Reeves can save it. Yes, it’s Hollywood, just go with it, folks. Years in the making (okay, not quite, but it’s been a long time in the making), so I’m guessing a lot of you are very excited to see this first trailer for Carl Rinsch’s “47 Ronin”. It’s interesting, and definitely more Zack Snyder than Takashi Miike, no doubt, but the one thing that struck me was how cool their silver Samurai looked. It’s actually what I pictured “The Wolverine’s” Silver Samurai looking like, instead of the giant mech thing in the movie.
Anyhoo. Take a look at your first trailer for “47 Ronin”. Do you buy Keanu as the savior of Japan?
Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors. As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.
Starring Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, and Rinko Kikuchi.
Keanu knows swordplay this December 25th.
