The first trailer for Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut “Man of Tai Chi” delivers the sort of thrills fans were no doubt hoping to experience. The fights look incredible, though, unfortunately, viewers won’t get to see “The Raid” star Iko Uwais in action. Oh, well. I guess they’ve got to hold something back for the next trailer. Anyway, it’s an impressive clip, and suggests that Reeves is on his way to becoming a very skilled director.
Although Reeves himself will appear in the movie, Tiger Hu Chen will take center stage. Unfortunately for those looking for specific plot points, the trailer doesn’t give away too much in terms of story. The official synopsis doesn’t offer up much help, either. Judging from the clip embedded below, Reeves’ movie appears to be a character-driven fight flick centered around a martial arts tournament. That’s good enough for me.

See? What did I tell you. Regardless, “Man of Tai Chi” looks insane, and I can’t wait for the film to land Stateside. While a North American release date has yet to be announced as of this writing, it would be very surprised if this thing doesn’t arrive before the end of the year. That’s what I’m hoping, anyway. Get crackin’, distributors!
Check out the trailer below. It’s definitely worth a look.
