Kevin Durant can do no wrong. The guy is a three-time NBA scoring champion. He’s just taken his team to the NBA Finals. And oh yeah, probably most importantly, he’s a former Longhorn. Hook’em! (And yes, the fact that he now plays professionally for Oklahoma pains me to no end.) As KD preps the Thunders to take out either Lebron and the Heats or Garnet and the Celtics (either/or, does it matter?), he’s also set to make his big-screen debut this Summer in the family-friendly basketball movie “Thunderstruck”. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before — in fact, you’ve probably seen it dozens of times before already — but fans of Durant, and those with kids, should get a kick out of it anyway.
When Brian, a hopelessly uncoordinated young fan magically switches talents with his hero (Kevin Durant, playing himself), he becomes the star of his high school team…while Kevin Durant suddenly can’t make a shot to save his life. But with the playoffs approaching, Brian learns that being a true winner involves working hard at your own game, and he tries to make things right in time to prevent a catastrophic end to his hero’s season.
Starring Kevin Durant, Taylor Gray, Jim Belushi, Brandon T. Jackson, Larramie Doc Shaw, and directed by John Whitesell.
Get dunked on this Summer.
