Besides killer robots from outer space and ‘splosions, Michael Bay seems to have a thing for boats. The director of the “Transformers” franchise is already a noted producer on the Starz Channel show “Black Sails” (see a new poster and two promos for that here), but he’s also a producer on the show “The Last Ship”, a post-apocalyptic, virus-kills-the-world show that has just landed a full 10-episode first season order from TNT.
For some reason I’ve never heard of this show until now, even though it’s totally something I’m naturally down for. I’m not sure who the bad guys are, though, since it’s a show set on a ship. What, other ships? Aliens? Infected people?
The crew of a naval destroyer is forced to confront the reality of a new existence when a pandemic kills off most of the earth’s population.
“The Last Ship” stars Eric Dane as the tad-too-old looking Captain (for an action TV show leading man, anyway), though to be fair he’s apparently only 41, though he looks 60 in this trailer. He stars along with Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, Michaela McManus and Tracy Middendorf.
The show is currently set to premiere next Summer on TNT.
