First Trailer for Nick Toon’s New Voltron Force Animated TV Show

Nick Toons has released the first trailer for their new “Voltron Force” animated TV Show. Check out the trailer and an image gallery below. I guess this being a Nick Toons TV show, that sort of explains why it’s definitely (as in, heavily) kiddie-friendly.

Several years after the final battle between the Voltron Force and Prince Lotor, a new evil threatens the galaxy, and the universe is once again in need of its true defender…

The original Voltron Force pilots, Keith, Allura, Lance, Hunk and Pidge, are joined by three new cadets. With the once-in-a-millennium opportunity to train alongside their heroes, these junior pilots will help unlock incredible new powers, discover secret origins, and fight to earn their role in the legendary Voltron Force!

“Voltron Force” premieres on Nick Toons June 16th at 8:30 p.m

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Why did that trailer just have to happen. I was having a great morning – nice cup of coffee, read that the Flyers got knocked out of the playoffs last night and then this! The lion stuff looks great, but what’s with the worse than bargain basement animation for the characters!? It creates 2 totally different styles within the same show. As someone who grew up watching the originals (and hunted through garage sales all across Canada for the red lion!) this is incredibly disapointing.

Shoulda been a cartoon Network show. The art style reminds me of “Spectacular Spiderman” which I loved and was also on Nick Toons. But the art style definitely doesn’t fit this as well, and the fact that they have that style and then the Lions are so well detailed, and CG/cell shaded just makes it very jarring. Had they gone with a look closer to 2002’s “Masters of the Universe” or even the new “Transformers Prime” or the upcoming “Thundercats” this would be alot more easy to deal with. The Lions and Voltron stuff looks decent though.
