Here’s your first look at Peter Berg’s pre-“Lone Survivor” movie, “Battleship”, or as some people are already calling it, “Battle: Pacific Ocean”, and not without justification. I guess it was inevitable that the film would look awfully familiar, especially since it’s based on a game that isn’t exactly known for its, er, complex storyline. I had expected something more original from Berg, but he’s just a hired gun on this one (it’s well known he did “Battleship” so he could get Universal to fund his “Lone Survivor” movie), and the visuals certainly look slick enough, though I’m still not sold on Taylor Kitsch as a big screen leading man. I mean, sure, the kid has the biceps, but in this trailer and the one for “John Carter of Mars” he still comes across as incredibly dull to me.
