First Trailer for South Korean Paranormal Thriller Psycho-metry aka The Gifted Hands

What the hell is “psychometry”? Apparently it’s some kind of psychic power. Or some such. The hero of “The Gifted Hands” (aka “Psycho-metry”) is in possession of such powers, though from the looks of this trailer, he seems very reluctant to use it. Fortunately for him, the other main character is a cop determined to solve crimes involving a rash of kidnapped little girls, even if he has to beat the crap out of the psychometry guy to do it. Hey, guy’s gotta do what a guy’s gotta do, am I right?

Take a gander at an English-subtitled trailer for “The Gifted Hands” below. Personally I think “Psycho-metry” is a pretty cool title, if only because it sounds so made-up that people walking by the video store shelf might stop and give it a second look. I mean, that’s just goofy sounding. “Psycho-metry”?

A little girl is kidnapped and murdered in the jurisdiction of gang buster detective Yang Chun-dong, who fights against the gangs for three years now. Also the case of the murdered girl is up to him. During the case, he realizes the crime scene is the same as the mysterious wall paper he saw once on the street. He starts tracking down the painter, a young man called Joon. But when Chun-dong is arresting Joon, he realizes that this boy has the so-called ‘psycho-metry’ ability to see the past by touching someone or something with his right hand. His whole life he had lived alone because he thought about his ability as a curse. So, as a monetary, he tried to help to solve crimes. However, for the police Joon is the main suspect for the murder case. But Detective Yang believes Joon and that is only witness of the murder. Or in other words: the only chance to find the true killer before he strikes again.

Starring Kim Kang-woo and Kim Beom, and directed by Kweon Ho-young.

South Korea gets the film first on March 7, 2013, and if we’re good, CJ Entertainment might bring the movie Stateside later this year.
