Ford? Eastwood? Snipes? And Nic Cage All in The Expendables 3?

If “The Expendables” producer Avi Lerner gets his way, he’d love to add Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Nicolas Cage and Wesley Snipes to “The Expendables 3″, which is surely on its way unless “The Expendables 2″ tanks completely, which given the buzz among the manly men who enjoy manly man movies, probably won’t happen. While out on press junket to promote “The Expendables 2″, which opens this Friday, franchise producer Avi Lerner spilled the beans about what other big action hero names he’d love to see join his cast for the third go-round.

We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].

And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].

Wow, that’s a lot of stars. These four guys in addition to all the returning ones?

It’s highly improbable Lerner is going to get Ford and Eastwood, though. I’m reasonably certain running around with a cannon shooting people is no longer something Eastwood enjoys doing with his time, not with a fairly healthy dramatic acting and directing career he’s currently having post his Dirty Harry days. Ford? Hmm, maybe…

Snipes and Cage, on the other hand, you can probably expect to sign up. Especially Cage. Given his legendary spending habits, I don’t think ol Cage can afford to turn down any movie, much less a big-budget one like the “Expendables” franchise. Plus, I’d love to see him play a crazy ass bad guy…
