FOX Greenlights Napoleon Dynamite TV Animated Series, First Image

Gosh! Can it be? Yup, it can.

FOX has greenlit an animated TV series based on the “Napoleon Dynamite” movie. Check out the first promo image from the show below.

FOX has already given the show an initial six-episode order, with the entire original movie cast expected back to provide voices for the show, including star Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite himself. The movie’s writer/director Jared Hess, co-writer Jerusha Hess, and “Simpsons” veteran Mike Scully will write and produce the show. No official air date as of yet.

The original “Napoleon Dynamite” is definitely one of those movies that you either love or hate. I have yet to find someone who doesn’t know how he/she feels about the movie, or have mixed feelings about it. You either thought its awkward dialogue, acting, and anachronistic sense of storytelling was either great, or you hated it.

I suspect similar responses to the show, which will once again focus on Napoleon as he navigates teenage life in rural Idaho.
