Becasue they’re adaptations. if you look at the track record of comic films that followed storylines too closely, they haven’t done as well as the ones where they took the character and created a movie version of that world with some changes. Licensed properties like “X-men,” “Spiderman,” “Iron Man,” and Batman Begins and Dark Knight” have taken inspiration from the comics but haven’t done exact storylines. It allows a creative freedom for the writers and still lets us have our fun with the characters. If you want the comics, read the comics. Different mediums allow for different strengths. “Watchmen,” was said to follow the source material too closely (I loved it though), and “V for Vendetta,” (liked that alot too) was good but fans were upset it didn’t follow the books exactly. It’s a very slippery slope when adapting not only established characters but established and loved storylines. “sin City” and “300″ are the two shinning examples. That being said, what Fox did with the Wade Wilson character was inexcusable. That is a clear example of what you’re talking about, but otherwise for the most part, alot of movies have gotten their characters right. Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine, Iron Man, even The Hulk (Incredible version LOL), and Blade pretty much came out on screen as they were portrayed in comics.

Lmao! i aggree whole heartedly, but he got his name after weapon x, cuz he tried doing the right thing, got tossed into a prison lab, and then got bets placed on him in a “deadpool” as to how long he would live when he was getting experimented on by Dr. Kilbrew or whatever his name is, and then he escaped and took the name Deadpool.

THE ENTIRE MOVIE SHOULD BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE COMICS!!PLAIN AND SIMPLE. THE COSTUME, THE DEFORMITY, EVEN THE WHOLE BREAKING THE 4TH WALL. EVERYTHING SHOULD BE THE SAME!!! As loved as Nightcrawler is, an origin flick would be pretty boring if tied to X2 at all. Until he was fund and saved by the X-men his life was pretty simple, except for being kidnapped by Stryker. The Incredible Nightcrawler was just a circus performer, and though I’m sure he had his share of anti-mutant experiences, nothing was on a level big enough to warrant a film.

Ok they got Wolverine movie and 2&3 coming, and Deadpool movie, a Magneto movie and a x-men first class movie coming…Ok but what about a NIGHTCRAWLER orgins movie?

I read that Anna Paquin wants to return as Rogue but how can they have her back in the any movie?????????? She’s got no more powers!!!!! They can’t do her Origans they did that briefly in the first x-men movie….

If the character from the comic book is so good that they want to make a movie then why go out of their way to re-wright everything? Deadpool has a good look. It’s easy to adapt just tone down the red, add a bit more black (i.e. Ultimate DP) lots of guns, two swords and let him talk!!! Think R-rated Spiderman with NO LOVE STORY! +Cable has the “bad guy” Bet you didn’t think of that!

*Fingers Crossed* lets see the eventual development of Deadpool after the torturous Weapon X toll on him and how he earned his frigging name, beating the odds of the deadpool.

Good lord, they better do it right this time! I also hope that they listen to Reynolds on this one, as he has read the comics and wants to stay true to them. I’d love that. Also, despite what other people say, I thought Reynolds was perfect for the part of Deadpool (or “Wade Wilson”. Seriously, WTF?!). I almost cried in the middle of X-Men when I found out he wouldn’t get more than 10 FREAKING MINUTES of screen time. But seriously, don’t fuck this one up. Or I’ll find you.

This should be good… amusing jokes aside, Reynolds has said (before it was known if there would be a movie) that he would hope a Deadpool movie was more true to the comics. Combine that with the fact that Marvel studios is doing this one, and… there may be accuracy. Which would be insanely awesome. I have hope.

And anne–we can understand why his mouth is sewn shut while still complaining that it was an annoying change. Complain, complain, complain… See?

If you would have watched the movie, you would know that Stryker said something along the lines of “You would be the perfect soldier if it weren’t for that mouth of yours” I don’t know the exact quote but that is why his mouth was shut.

Rumor has it that actor Ryan Reynolds actually believes he is Deadpool. Several so far have ventured theories about how this might effect filming which is due to begin in December of 2009. Renalds, who could not be reached for comment, has gone on record as saying “Sorry I will not be breaking the fourth wall in this particular quote” and this has lead some to the conclusion that filming may take longer than expected.
