Francis Ford Coppola And Val Kilmer Are Shooting A Horror Movie Called Twixt Now And Sunrise

Francis Ford Coppola is shooting a horror thriller starring Val Kilmer? Interesting.

Kilmer was good as the delirious sidekick in “Bad Lieutenant—Port of Call New Orleans” (and did other people know he voiced K.I.T.T. in the most recent “Knight Rider”?), and Coppola has only dabbled in horror throughout his illustrious career. Elle Fanning (little sister of Dakota) and the inimitable Bruce Dern co-star in the film, titled “Twixt Now and Sunrise”.

[T]he picture’s fulcrum is Kilmer, who plays a horror novelist. The film is based on a short story written by Coppola. It is shooting in Napa, on Coppola’s property. Coppola hasn’t tackled the horror genre since early in his career, when he directed “Dementia 13”, and of course “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”.

This sounds like pretty good news, and apparently Coppola sought out Kilmer for the role. Do I smell a Mickey-Rourke post “The Wrestler” style comeback? I hope so, I would love to see Kilmer back on top, he was in “MacGruber”, and maybe Iceman will have a cameo in “Top Gun 2.” Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

Coppola financed the picture independently and has yet to seek distribution.

Kilmer as a grisled high ranking figure coming down on a young upstart pilot in the new Top Gun would be awsome! I can hear it now…
“What are you? Some kind of Maverick??? (chomp on gum, teeth crack)”
    That would be classic!

He may not be a hot commodity now, but in his prime he played some iconic roles. Billy the kid, Jim Morrison, Doc Holiday, Elvis, Batman , Moses, God, John Holmes and KITT. That is a pretty impressive list of characters for any actor to have on their resume. He is a solid actor and has been good in almost everything that I have ever seen him in.

He’s always good, even in bad movies.
