Well they are obviously having a hard time thinking of what to do..how about this..they make a sequel..it starts off with the ending of that last one..so he blows him self up..then snaps back into reality and that was just a daydream..the he realizes they want the girl then he gives the girl to them the go away they leave to the base..bam theres the start of the 2nd movie..just both endings of the first one combined..will smith lives and they can continue right off there and do what they wish

It’s totally possible to make a sequel.

Just let the last official ending be a dream sequencing.

He puts the woman and child in the coal shoot. Turns to hear a tremendous crash against the glass. This triggers a dream/premonition with his daughter. She’s older, 3 years older (how she would have looked if she survived the helicopter); she looks deep into her Daddy’s eyes and says, “protect the butterfly” (or something).

He snaps out of the dream sequence to the big crash that breaks the glass. The glass breaks into a butterfly shaped hole. He dreams/forecast possible scenarios. One is the official ending, another he throws the grenade thru the butterfly hole (gets blasted into the corner un-conscious and out of sight. You can imagine others.

In the morning woman and boy leave assuming everyone is dead and daring not to look to close.

Smith wakes up a day later – no point in following them because “upstate” could be anywhere.

He begins salvaging his equipment and looking for a new hide out — comes up with creative ways to infuse the cure once he reproduces it again.

Maybe he makes a super-serum – a hybrid formula to “control” vampirism — leaving him a daywalker and human looking — save one grey eye or something.

Well the case is that if there was a prequel then it would be about the cure for cancer going wrong and robs attempt at fixing it and about him and his wife. The squeal would be harder to do because there is nowhere to go, they fix the world?

I think they can make a sequel jus make it look like will smith survived the explosion n he goes back to help save his friends that were in part 1 from more of those vampires. I would rather watch a sequel than a prequel.
