James Franco (left) and Javier Bardem are said to be the top “casting choices” for two major roles in Warner Bros.’ upcoming sequel to their successful remake of “Clash of the Titans”, since titled, “Wrath of the Titans”. If “Wrath” proves successful, a third entry in the franchise, to be called “Rest of the Titans”, which is just one big movie showing all the characters dozing off, will follow. (Warning: That last sentence may have been a complete fabrication on my part.)
If both men do sign on, Franco will play Agenor, the Phoenician king of Tyre and a son of Poseidon, while Bardem would get the juicy role of Ares, the God of War.
Jonathan Liebesman, who is currently doing post on his alien invasion movie “Battle: Los Angeles”, will take over directing chores from Frenchman Louis Leterrier on the sequel. Scripting duties were done by Dan Mazeau (who is also currently working on “The Flash”) and David Johnson (“Red Riding Hood”).
If all goes well (i.e. if Sam Worthington doesn’t get killed in the gazillion other major stunt-heavy movies he’s currently working on), production is expected to start in January 2011.
