Franco and Bardem Clashing in Wrath of the Titans?

James Franco (left) and Javier Bardem are said to be the top “casting choices” for two major roles in Warner Bros.’ upcoming sequel to their successful remake of “Clash of the Titans”, since titled, “Wrath of the Titans”. If “Wrath” proves successful, a third entry in the franchise, to be called “Rest of the Titans”, which is just one big movie showing all the characters dozing off, will follow. (Warning: That last sentence may have been a complete fabrication on my part.)

If both men do sign on, Franco will play Agenor, the Phoenician king of Tyre and a son of Poseidon, while Bardem would get the juicy role of Ares, the God of War.

Jonathan Liebesman, who is currently doing post on his alien invasion movie “Battle: Los Angeles”, will take over directing chores from Frenchman Louis Leterrier on the sequel. Scripting duties were done by Dan Mazeau (who is also currently working on “The Flash”) and David Johnson (“Red Riding Hood”).

If all goes well (i.e. if Sam Worthington doesn’t get killed in the gazillion other major stunt-heavy movies he’s currently working on), production is expected to start in January 2011.

'I'm the God of War. You want some of this?'

I’m all for a sequel and amping up the story and action. These additions would definitely add to the quality of the film. Not sure about Bardem’s accent playing Ares though. I woulda went Vinnie Jones or better yet dude that plays Crixus in “Spartacus”

I’d like to see Bardem in a “fun” like movie this; just to see him cut loose and collect enough euros to be rich for a couple of years.

By the way, nix, Worthington can’t die. He’s obviously a CG creation that the studios and effects houses came up with as a way to introduce the world’s first virtual action star. The real Worthington died sometime after his work in “Hamlet,” “Primeval,” and “The Great Raid,” after he’d been scanned enough to be reproduced. As it is now, he’s like a cross between Eve from “Megazone 23,” S1m0ne, and Sharon Apple from “Macross Plus.” I think the female prototype is Gemma Arterton.

Lol. Awesome. So “Clash” was the first movie with two cg stars they’re passing as real people.

Oh yeah. Skynet/Colossus hasn’t quite ironed out yet the accent app to work consistently on the both of them, which is why both “actors” have appeared in so many movies featuring English spoken by Britis, Aussies, Kiwis, Americans, Russians and Middle-Easterners.
