The FX Channel certainly would love to add Kyle Chandler to their roster, joining his fellow “Friday Night Lights” co-star (and TV wife) Connie Britton, who is headlining the channel’s “The American Horror Story”. Chandler, who played the football coach on “Lights” and is starring in J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8” on the big screen, has been offered the male lead in the network’s new show “Powers”, based on the comic book of the same name by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming.
Variety reports that an offer has been made to Chandler to board the project, but he has yet to make a decision either way.
“Powers”, created by Bendis and Oeming, is set in a world where superheroes and supervillains exist, and focuses on regular Homicide cops Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who work cases involving people with powers. If Chandler is being offered the show’s male lead, then it’s the role of Walker, who used to be a superhero himself before he lost his powers.
Frankly, I’m surprised FX didn’t just offer the Deena Pilgrim role to Connie Britton, too, and have a “Friday Night Lights” reunion on “Powers”.
