Like all new shows, the FX Channel’s “Justified” hit record numbers in its premiere before evening out. In its first year, the show is currently averaging a respectable 3.4 million total viewers, which is enough for the cable net to announce a second year renewal. Season 2 of “Justified” will come with 13 episodes, with Season 1’s finale airing June 8.
This is one of the benefits of being on a cable network like the FX Channel, where instant stratospheric ratings are not the be-all and end-all of TV programming. (I can hear “Firefly” fans grinding their teeth now.)
For those who have never seen “Justified” (what are you, nuts? It’s probably the best new show on TV), Timothy Olyphant stars as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a take-no-shit lawman who takes no shit, but delivers plenty of justice. What I like most about “Justified”? It’s not another mindless “CSI” clone, but has its own easy-going nature that, if given the chance, will grow on you.
So give it a chance already, dammit.
