Marlon Wayans and G.I. Joe 2 Set to Yuk it up in 2012

Hey, kids, you like last year’s ridiculously cartoony, completely over-the-top, and at times excruciatingly painful “G.I. Joe”: The Rise of Cobra”? (Well plenty of you apparently liked it, since the movie has grossed $302 million worldwide.) You’re in luck! Because according to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, they are looking at a Summer 2012 release date for the “G.I. Joe” sequel. Now all they have to do is get a script by “Zombieland” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, re-write the hell out of it, and from there pre-production can commence as soon as Spring 2011. Yay!

I’m being overly silly, of course. “Rise of Cobra” was good clean fun, though I wish it had been a little smarter. Not a lot, mind you, and not that I expected it to solve space-time equations for me, but you know, I do wish it wasn’t completely a brain fart where the script was completely rubbish.

In any case, here’s hoping they’ll do better with a sequel. And of course by “better” I mean kill everyone and make this an entirely one-man operation ala Snake Eyes. Could happen…

Correction “kill everyone and make this an entirely one-man operation ala Snake Eyes” VS Storm Shadow revived via nanomites. That's a movie I'd see in a second. But it will be fun to see (hopefully) Joseph Gordan-Levitt and Christopher Eccelston comeback as full-on cosplay Cobra Commander and Destro, and throw in the Pyramid of Darkness as a cherry on top

MEH, I had more fun watching “GI JOE RESOLUTE” than that pile of dung they put on screen.

I agree with all of you. I'd love to see Eccleston and JGL return and bring us Badass interpretations of Cobra Comander and Destro. And speaking of “Resolute” Ulik, I'd love to see Cobra COmmander be a little more ruthless and a little more psycho like he was in that. I also agree with Nix that it was fun but definitely could've been smarter. That said my main request. NO LIPS ON SNAKE EYES!!! FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!! PLEASE!!!

Yeah, seriously, the made-on-the-cheap “Ballad of G.I. Joe” comedy video had a more proper costume for Snake than a 170 million official movie. How does that happen??? Though the revamped Storm Shadow outfit definitely worked

Hell yeah Storm Shadow looked good. Snake Eyes even had a normal mask when not in action scenes. At the Pit he has a normal ninja mask on with the visor, and no armor. Who thought it was a good idea to have molded lips?

If I remember right, Stephen Sommers in the commentary track mentioned they didn't have Snake's look “locked” down until filming was already taking place. That might explain the slight alterations in look in different scenes

Regardless, they should stick to that mid way look. Or a cross between, with the armored body, molded headpieve, but a plain mask for the mouth, the way Storm SHadow has the leather hood, but cloth mask.

And, maybe at least in one scene, they'd let us see Ray Park with makeup as Snake unmasked. Give him some badass/scary scars like Two-Face or Col. Quaritch (“Avatar”)

@ ErickKwon-Doubtful. The comics have been hiding it for decades. That would be seriously bad form. And in this one I don't know if he is scarred, as his silence is a vow not a result of an accident or war.
