Apparently Paramount, unlike the other big studios, doesn’t think you should have to wait until Sunday for their Super Bowl TV spots. Following up on their release of the “Dictator” Super Bowl TV spot earlier today, the studio has now released the spot for the Jon Chu-directed “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”.
I know the spot is only 30 seconds long, but it’s interesting that they’re not even trying to pretend Channing Tatum’s Duke is in this one for any length of time. I don’t think he even shows up in the entire 30-second spot. Curiouser and curiouser.
In the sequel, the Joes must not only fight those pesky Cobra fellows and their devious, world-conquerin’ plans, but must also battle the U.S. Government that have disbanded them. It’s times like this that I’m glad I’m secretly a sleeper agent for the Chinese Government. Er, I mean, God bless America!
The film, starring D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, retaliates June 29th, 2012.
