Xerxes, Boy King of the mighty Persian empire, learned to his dismay that you can’t keep a good Spartan or 300, give or take, down. Zach Snyder has a mammoth hit on his hands, with “300″ selling out movie theaters all across the country, and recording one of the biggest pre-order spree of all time. The Frank Miller story racked up an impressive $70 million in its weekend debut, surpassing the predicted $50 million opening by a whopping $20 mil. I guess audiences didn’t find it odd that a King of Sparta, in Ancient Greece, was speaking with a heavy Scottish brogue. Hey, works for me.

You can’t keep a good Spartan down.
