NBC’s “Raines” is Actually Really Good
I know this is going to stun you, but bear with me: NBC’s new show, “Raines”, which stars Jeff Goldblum as a Detective with mental problems that results in him “seeing” dead people. But wait, don’t go off half-cock just yet. It sounds like the premise is stolen directly from NBC’s other show about someone who can see dead people, “Medium”, but it’s really not. You see, Goldblum’s character, Raines, can’t actually see dead people — he’s just so psychologically messed up, and coupled with his writer’s creativity (his character wanted to be a writer, but became a cop instead), that he imagines the dead talking to him. The problem is that he can’t get rid of his imagination — that is, until he solves the murder, after which they disappear.
Alexa Davalos is Alive!
Hey look, kids, it’s Alexa Davalos from “The Chronicles of Riddick”, and she’s not dead after all! After “Riddick”, you would think Alexa’s career would take off, but unfortunately not. Too bad, because the young woman cut a fine figure in the movie, and was probably the only thing that kept me from dozing off during the what, 5-hour flick? Anyhoo, here’s Alexa at the 2006 Cipriani/Deutsche Bank Concert Series. Don’t even ask what that is, cause I dunno. By the way, I don’t know who the guy with her is, but he sure looks like Josh Lucas of “Glory Road” fame…
