Ah, women’s tennis. Let’s face it, unless you were born with a tennis racket in your hand and lives and dies by the sport, you’ll probably agree with me that the best thing tennis has ever done was give us some really smoking hot female tennis players. The original was, and still is, the best in my opinion — none other than Russian Goddess Anna Kournikova, who, I believe, has still never won a major title, but never you mind that inconsequential stuff. What is important is that Anna Kournikova is back on the cover and in the pages of the most recent Maxim issue, and oh yes oh my, she is looking awfully good once again…

Good news for fans of hot Russian tennis players, because it looks like Anna Kournikova is doing a bikini photoshoot. I haven’t a clue who it’s for, or what magazine, but she’s doing one, and here are some behind-the-scenes pics to prove it. Now you may be wondering, does Anna Kournikova still qualifies as a tennis player? Um, does it matter? To be honest with you, I’d rather not listen to female tennis players as they’re playing, anyway. All that grunting sounds good when they’re alone with you in your basement, but let’s face it, having to listen to it on the TV is unbearable. Okay, so a little grunting on TV is good, but not THIS much. Anyways, what I’m trying to say is, we can look forward to a Anna Kournikova bikini spread sometime in the future. Until then, these will have to do.

Okay, so Anna Kournikova is no longer tennis’ biggest draw. Heck, does she even still play tennis? I don’t know, because frankly I stopped watching ladies tennis a while ago, back when I could no longer stand the grunting. Seriously, what’s up with the grunting? It was kinda sexy for a while, but then it just got really annoying. Anyhoo. She may not technically qualify as an athlete anymore, but that’s not going to stop advertisers from going to Anna Kournikova to sell their wares. One of those forward-thinking folks are KSwiss, who sells cats. White, furry cats. I think. Look, it’s not like I actually research this stuff, you know.

How long has it been since we heard or saw from Russia’s original Goddess, Anna Kournikova? Quite a bit, actually. Maybe it’s because Anna no longer plays tennis (she’s retired, right? I think she’s retired, although I could be wrong), and there are only the occasional advertisements starring Anna, but we haven’t seen a whole lot from her lately. So hey, why not break that dry spell with some nice Anna Kournikova bikini pictures on a slow Sunday? And yes, we’re not going to pay attention to the lucky bastard she’s with in these pictures. It’s all about Anna — just the way she and we like it. And yup, Anna still looks pretty good, doesn’t she? Retirement has been a plus.

I don’t get what all the fuss about Anna Kournikova apparently becoming “too skinny” is all about. She doesn’t look all that skinny to me in these pictures, snapped of Anna in her stomping ground of Miami with someone’s family and someone’s (lucky) kid. Okay, so maybe she’s not quite as muscular as when she was dominating the tennis circuit (okay, so “dominating” may be too strong a word; let’s go with playing), but she’s, you know, not exactly Mischa Barton territory.
