Apple Unveils Faster, Cheaper iPhone 3G!
I can’t believe that not all that long ago I was geeking over Samsung’s new iPhone clone Instinct. Before you know it, Apple has just unveiled their iPhone 2.0, and holy crap, this thing is just going to be gangbusters. And the best part? (I mean, besides all the new additions, like faster 3G internet and third-party applications?) It’s gonna be cheaper. How much cheaper? Try $199 for your very own iphone, compared to the $499-$600 the first iPhone was going for just a year ago. So let me get this straight — it’s a better phone, and it’s cheaper? Sign me up for one, Steve Jobs! So when can you expect to be getting yourself one? Mark your calendars, boys and girls — JULY 11, 2008!
Is Samsung’s Instinct a iPod Killer?
Ol Samsung and Sprint have team up to put out their Apple iPhone clone a year later, and it’s called Instinct. Word is that besides having everything the iPhone has, the Instinct will improve on it with a better Internet connection (broadband speeds, apparently), a video and still camera, and get this — live TV. But what will probably sell it like hotcakes is a promised lower price than the iPhone, but of course, it remains to be seen how much lower. I’m definitely getting me one when this thing hits the street. Forget all the other goodies, I just want broadband connection on my phone. Or at least, as close to the real thing as possible.
Geek Tech: The Samsung Ultra Smart F700. Better than the iPhone?
You know, I love me my geek techs. You put something in a small bundle that can deliver a big bang, and I’m there with bells and whistles on to grab me one. The latest comes from Samsung, and it’s the Ultra Smart F700. Now come on, with a name like that, you know it has to be good. It’s the Samsung answer to Apple’s iPhone, but is it better, or at least on par? Who the hell knows. Here are its specs: A touch screen interface, QWERTY keypad, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus, music and video player, and a 2.78-inch color screen. It’s scheduled to hit the streets in the third part of 2008, so it’ll be a while. Prices? Who knows, but expect to pay AT LEAST 3 figures. Check out some pics of the Samsung Ultra Smart F700 below. (Love that name, too…)
iPhone Activation Problems, Glitches, Tech Support
I think it’s safe to say that Apple’s iPhone launch was a success. The company has moved over 525,000 units since it went on sale on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and continued selling through Sunday. But with the glut of new iPhone customers are problems. The LA Times reports that customers experienced hang-ups including activation problems and insufficient tech support for customers who have run into problems. Apparently even Apple didn’t realize they would do so well because the tech support wasn’t ready for the deluge of calls. Either that, or they just didn’t expect as much problem as they got.
The Apple iPhone Goes on Sale 6:00 p.m. Friday
What the hell is the Apple iPhone and why should you run out and buy one now before they’re all sold out? I don’t know, but if you want one, you’ll just have to wait until 6:00 p.m. today, when it finally goes on sale at Apple retail stores nationwide. Why 6:00 p.m.? Um, PR stunt? So what exactly is the Apple iPhone, and what can it do for you that the iPod can’t? Well I’m guessing the “phone” in the name has something to do with it.
