USA Renews Burn Notice for Second Season

Fans of good TV rejoice! News from TVLand is that the USA network, doing the very smart thing, has already renewed its original show “Burn Notice” for a second season, while the show is still on episode 7 (a great episode, by the way). I don’t know how many episodes USA gives their shows per season, but this is a major coup for the producers of the show, and a real treat to fans of Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) and his pursuit of finding out who “burned” him. Plus, fans of Gabrielle Anwar can also rejoice. I’ve never seen Gabrielle look hotter or tougher (the combination of that is just irresistible) on any movie or show. My favorite actors in a show that’s become my favorite show plus a guaranteed second season? Damn, my day is looking up!

Watch Burn Notice on USA Network Tonight

Don’t forget to watch “Burn Notice’s” premiere on the USA Network tonight for those of you who get the channel. It stars three of my favorite actors: Jeffrey Donovan, who was killer in “Touching Evil”; Gabrielle Anwar, who I have had a crush on since forever; and Bruce Campbell, the God among fanboys. The show is about a spy who is “burned” by his agency, and now he’s trapped in Miami with his overbearing mother, and trying to make ends meat. It looks like a really good show to jump on board if you like action and quirky characters. Plus, it has Bruce Friggin’ Campbell. I mean, how can you go wrong with that?

A Review of MY NAME IS BRUCE, Plot Details

It’s not easy being a B-list actor with fans in the millions based on a couple of movies you did in the late ’70s/early ’80s where you were mostly covered in blood and got tossed around a forest by your “best friend”, who seemed to really enjoy hurting you. Then your career amounts to playing leads in crappy C-list sci-fi movies and crappy cameos in A-list Hollywood movies directed by some dude name Sam Raimi. Such is life for Bruce Campbell, the only guy who can save even the most atrocious movies ever made by modern man (see “Alien Apocalypse” for an example”). Bruce’s latest movie is “My Name is Bruce”, and according to this reviewer, it’s a humdinger.

Sam Raimi to Direct THE HOBBIT?

So word around the Internet Fanboy Water Cooler (or IFWC as I like to call it — well, not really) is that Sam Raimi is currently pondering offers to take over the directing reins of “The Hobbit” from Peter Jackson, who is still in all manner of legal fisticuffs with New LIne Cinema, the studio that owns “The Hobbit”, post-”Lord of the Rings” glory. Who knows what’s going on there, or who is telling the truth about the situation, but it certainly seems like Sam Raimi is reaping the benefits. And coming off three huge films in “Spider-Man” 1, 2, and the upcoming 3, it’s time for Raimi to get p-a-i-d. And if he does direct “The Hobbit”, he’s gonna get paid.

“My Name is Bruce” starring Bruce Campbell as…Bruce Campbell?

Via AICN, here’s a kinda lame still shot from what will no doubt be a crazy ass (in a good way) movie directed by the one and only Bruce Campbell, and starring Bruce Campbell as…Bruce Campbell? Yeah, something like that. The movie is called “My Name is Bruce”, and in it, Bruce the actor is mistaken for Ash, the character Bruce plays in the “Evil Dead” films, and he’s “recruited” to battle a monster in Oregon. Yeah, yeah, I know, it sounds really stupid, but so did “Galaxy Quest”, and that movie kicked all kinds of ass. And did I mention it’s directed by and starring the Main Man himself? Geeks ahoy!

Geek Alert: Bruce Campbell as Mysterio in “Spiderman 3″?

Or maybe I should call this, Major, Major Explode in Your Pants Geek Alert, because according to the blog film ick, geek fanboy favorite Bruce Campbell (the “Evil Dead” films, among many) will be playing a fourth villain in the “Spiderman 3″ movie. Campbell, as geeks around the world know, is best buds with “Spidey” director Sam Raimi, and like Raimi’s “Classic”, Campbell has found himself in cameo roles in most of Raimi’s movies, including the two previous Spidey flicks.

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash? Maybe…

Who doesn’t want to see this? Especially fans of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s “Evil Dead” films? Even though “Freddy vs. Jason” kind of sucked (with some spurts of goodness thrown in), the prospect of Freddy Krueger teaming up with Jason Vorhees to take on everyone’s favorite chainsaw wielding, demon-killing S-Mart employee is enough to get fanboys all wet. According to this article, it’s a definite possibility. Well, sort of.
