Katee Sackhoff is one Sexy Starbuck

24 January 2007

“Katee Sackhoff is one Sexy Starbuck”? Holy cow, I didn’t know I had a talent for totally unnecessary alliterations. I guess I’m way more talented than I originally thought, or that anyone knew about. Go figure. Anywhatever, here’s Starbuck (aka Katee Sackhoff) all glam up and totally launching a thousand ships in the constricted pants of sci-fi geeks all across the USA and beyond. Okay, I know that Sackhoff’s version of Starbuck is to play her like a major rebel, but come on, this is literally laying down on the job. What if the Cylons attacked now? I mean, come on, she doesn’t even have her clothes. That’s gotta be against military regs or sumthin’…

Via those lucky dogs at ComingSoon.net, here are the latest batch of high quality stills from the upcoming live-action version of “The Transformers”, directed by Michael Bay and primed for a July 4th 2007 Summer opening. “As the forces of evil seek the key to ultimate power, our last chance for survival rests in the hands of young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).” The film also stars Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Anderson, Rachael Taylor, Megan Fox, John Turturro and Jon Voight. Oh, to be one of those sites where movie studios send freebies to…

Game Preview: Halo 3

22 January 2007

Okay, so the “Halo” movie that was supposed to be produced by Peter “King Kong” Jackson is officially DOA, but that doesn’t mean all you “Halo” fans out there won’t have something to occupy your time until another studio finally comes to their senses and makes the movie happen already. Here’s a preview of “Halo 3″, where you once again assume the role of alien killer Master Chief, who in this third and (supposedly) final installment, “returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax.” The game arrives on the Xbox 360 sometime very soon. Check out a rocking video trailer for it.

Gwyneth Paltrow is Pepper Potts in “Iron Man”

18 January 2007

There have been a lot of rumors about all the women who were supposed to play Iron Man’s love interest in Jon Favreau’s upcoming big-screen live-action superhero movie. Famke Janssen was mentioned as a possibility, and a host of other actresses that I never bothered reporting. But it seems as if the real Pepper Potts has been found — Gwyneth Paltrow. What makes this more than a rumor? Well for one, Marvel Entertainment has announced the signing of Paltrow in the role, so there goes the “rumor” tag. Who the heck is Pepper Potts and what does she have to do with Iron Man? I have no idea. I know absolutely squatto about Iron Man, except that he’s a billionaire playboy who runs a company and wears a giant suit of armor to battle crime and junk. Me, I’d just vacation a lot and bang hot supermodels, but what do I know.

Wanna Know How “Spiderman 3″ Ends?

16 January 2007

Just kidding. I’m not gonna post how “Spiderman 3″ ends, but if you want to know, you can find out. Cinematical has posted it here, but because I didn’t read any further after finding out that what lies below would spoil the end of the movie for me, I can’t tell you if the spoilers are true or not, so be warned, click on this link at your own risk, etc etc. But seriously, why would you want to know how “Spiderman 3″ ends? If you’re a comic book geek, you probably already have a clue as to how it might end. But hey, to each his own. If you want to know, click on the link above. If you don’t want to know, and want to wait for the movie to come out to find out like the rest of us, don’t click on the link above. Got that?

“Spider-Man 3’s” Venom Revealed — in Toy Form

14 January 2007

Via SideshowToy, here are your first looks (or is it the second, third, or fourth?) at Venom from the upcoming “Spiderman 3″ movie. Okay, so maybe these looks aren’t new, but they sure look cool, huh? Pretty soon you’ll be able to grab yourself a Venom toy and pose him with Barbie and whatever it is you toy geeks do with your toys. Ahem, I mean, action figures. Whatever. I still don’t know if Venom is going to come from space or what. Did Raimi ever cleared that up? Oh well, movie is coming out soon, so we’ll see…

Enough “TMNT” Stills to Choke a Horse

27 December 2006

Via SuperheroHype, some Russian guys have gotten their hands on an assload of high quality stills from the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” CGI feature length movie. You can check out a small sampling below, or click here to see all that the Russian fellas have to offer. I can’t say as if I’m looking forward to this movie; I was never that big of a fan of the movies, and the comic books, although cool — well, look, it’s about talking turtles who just happens to have been trained in ninjitsu by a talking rat, fer Christ sake. Anyways, enjoy the stills.

Keanu Reeves as “Speed Racer”?

26 December 2006

Now look, I don’t have anything against Keanu Reeves, but can we just admit that anyone could have played the role of Neo, and been twice as effective, or at the very least, look less vapid? Having said that, there are rumors that Keanu Reeves plans to rejoin his “The Matrix” writers/directors, the Wachowski brothers, for the live-action version of the popular Japanese anime “Speed Racer”. This would make a lot of sense from a commercial point of view, as although Reeves has the personality of driftwood, he’s a box office draw. Then again, it is Keanu Reeves, and the guy looks vapid all the time, so… Eh, whatever. I don’t “get” why they’re making a live-action version of the show anyways, so what do I know.

The Silver Surfer in “Fantastic Four 2″

24 December 2006

Your first look (close up!) look at the Silver Surfer from the upcoming “Fantastic Four” sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”. The character is completely CGI and “played” by Doug Jones (who also did the reptile guy in “Hellboy”). Dude looks pissed off, doesn’t he? Then again, if I was covered up in silver and had to fly around on a surfboard, I wouldn’t be so cheery, either.

“Iron Man” Gets a Website

21 December 2006

Jon Favreau’s upcoming “Iron Man” live-action movie gets a spanking new trailer here. There’s nothing on it at the moment except the film’s logo (above) and a link to register for site updates. But hey, at least the logo looks kinda cool. Kinda.

Robert Rodriguez to Produce “Madman” Live-Action Film

19 December 2006

I must admit to having never gotten into Michael Allred’s supposedly (I say “supposedly” because I’ve only heard about it, never witnessed it myself) kooky but fun comic book character about some guy who wears white tights and fights crime. I think he fights crime. Maybe he doesn’t fight crime. But I digress. Variety reports that Robert Rodriguez, who is already helming his own comic book turned movie sequel (”Sin City 2″) will produce the “Madman” live-action film based off Allred’s comics, with George Huang to direct. Huang’s big break was the 1994 movie “Swimming with Sharks” starring Kevin Spacey and the TV flick “How to Make a Monster”. He’s not exactly a great director, which bodes poorly for “Madman” the movie. But hey, I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

Bryan Singer in Danger of Becoming Lame

18 December 2006

Variety is reporting that Bryan Singer, the fanboy turned mega director who helmed the first two “X-Men” films (aka the GOOD “X-Men” films) and the recent “Superman Returns”, is going to direct an episode of ABC’s upcoming “Footballers’ Wives”, based on the hit British TV show about three ordinary women thrown into celebritydom when they marry football players. (It was soccer players in the Brit version, actual football players in the Americanized one.) Now I’m not saying Singer shouldn’t direct an episode of “Footballers’ Wives”, but I am saying that he should stay the hell as far away from it as possible. What’s next, an episode of “Desperate Housewives”? Run, Bryan, run! (Also, fire your agent when you get the chance.)

Live-Action Transformers Pictures Online

17 December 2006

You have to be a total geek to love the Transformers in the first place, but to get excited about a picture that shows a scene from the movie? Man, you’d have to be a Transformers fanatic to love something like that. Well, I happen to be a fanatic, so I’m very jazz about this lame-o picture of some generic human soldiers (one of whom is Tyrese Gibson) fleeing a pursuing Scorponok. That’s supposed to be a Decepticon. I don’t know, I never even heard of a Transformer called Scorponok, but then again, the last time I saw anything Transformer related, I was 10, so you know. Anyways, here’s the pic, as well as some others.

New “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Trailer

14 December 2006

Those pesky sewer dwelling teenage mutant ninja turtles gets another trailer for their upcoming big-screen CGI movie (due out March 2007). This time we see more of the plot — apparently nothing about Shredder, the turtle’s arch nemesis, but instead some interdimensional monsters or somesuch. Sounds very cartoony, but there you have it. Check out the trailer below, and the film’s many (4) varied posters. Doesn’t look too bad, though kind of too “jokey” for my taste. Then again, I was raised on the serious-as-hell comic books, so…

New “Spiderman 3″ Trailer. Maybe.

13 December 2006

I’m not entirely sure if this trailer for “Spiderman 3″ is new or not, but there were a couple of bits and pieces from it that I didn’t notice before. In particular, the subplot about how the Sandman (or Flint Marko, the criminal who would become Sandman) was actually the killer of Peter Parker’s uncle from the first movie. This leads Peter to pursue Marko and eventually merge with the “black suit”, the alien symbiote (not sure if it’s still an alien in the movie) who takes over Spiderman and basically turns him evil — or at least, less of a nice guy. Anyways, check it out and see for yourself.

See Ghost Rider Transform — Yum, Burnt Face!

13 December 2006

Comic book geeks will certainly love “Ghost Rider”, even if it ends up being totally crappy, since comic book geeks love anything that gets turned into a big screen blockbuster. Sure, “The Punisher” sucked donkey balls, but it was the Punisher, on the big screen, and that was cool enough in itself. Now I don’t hold out very much hope for “Ghost Rider”, and from all that I’ve seen, it doesn’t look that good. But anyways, here’s a very cool video showing the Ghost Rider transformation with commentary by the film’s writer/director Mark Steven Johnson (”Daredevil”).

“My Name is Bruce” starring Bruce Campbell as…Bruce Campbell?

12 December 2006

Via AICN, here’s a kinda lame still shot from what will no doubt be a crazy ass (in a good way) movie directed by the one and only Bruce Campbell, and starring Bruce Campbell as…Bruce Campbell? Yeah, something like that. The movie is called “My Name is Bruce”, and in it, Bruce the actor is mistaken for Ash, the character Bruce plays in the “Evil Dead” films, and he’s “recruited” to battle a monster in Oregon. Yeah, yeah, I know, it sounds really stupid, but so did “Galaxy Quest”, and that movie kicked all kinds of ass. And did I mention it’s directed by and starring the Main Man himself? Geeks ahoy!

Sam Raimi to Produce “The Shadow”

11 December 2006

Anything with Sam Raimi (of “Evil Dead” and “Spiderman” fame) is surely considered geek news. So here’s more geek stuff about Raimi teaming up with Columbia Pictures to bring the pulp action hero “The Shadow” to the big screen…again. Most of you will probably know that The Shadow fought crime on the big screen once before, in 1994 with Alec Baldwin putting on the prosthetic nose. No word on who will direct (Raimi will only produce), but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia has tapped Siavash Farahani to pen the script. Who the hell is Siavash Farahani? Beats the hell outta me. He did something in 1999 called “Ingenue”, but nothing since.
