It would appear that the NBC Network has won the Lauren Graham lottery, inking the former Gilmore Girls star to a development deal with the network for a cool 7-figure deal, which Variety says is one of the richest of the year. (Can you say, CHA-CHING?) Now the trick will be to get Lauren Graham with some writers and producers and hatch a show that will be just as big a hit as Gilmore Girls, which, I hate to say it, the odds are against. Let’s face it, you can count only one person out of the Seinfeld cast that managed a hit show post-Seinfeld, and it ain’t Kramer. I wish Lauren Graham luck; she seems like a genuinely great person, and it would be nice to see her on TV again, preferably on something not so, well, chick-heavy.

In case you haven’t heard, the CW’s “Gilmore Girls” will air its final show, ever, on May 15th after seven glorious years on the air. I only bring this news to you because I heard there were people out there who watches the show. And hey, I guess if no one watches it, it wouldn’t have lasted seven whole years, and even survived the extinction of the WB network, which merged with UPN to become the current CW network. The show starred Lauren Graham as an independent mother raising a teen daughter in Alexis Bledel. The fact is, on today’s TV, any show that lasts more than 3 seasons is a major winner. I never really got into “The Gilmore Girls”, although I always meant to. So sue me, Lauren Graham’s combination of sex appeal and cute girl looks really appeals to me.

America’s second funniest man (behind Will Ferrell, of course) Steve Carrell takes over the God title left behind by Jim Carrey in “Evan Almighty”, the semi-sequel to Carrey’s “Bruce Almighty”. Carrell reprises his newcaster role from “Bruce”, but is now a politician when God (Morgan Freeman again) tells him to build an ark so he can clean out the dirty politicians in D.C. God’s got his work cut out for him! Steve Carrell as God’s right hand man hits theaters January 1, 2007, and co-stars the oh-so-charming Lauren Graham of “Gilmore Girls” fame.

I don’t know what the CW is doing right, but it’s a lot of stuff. Then again, maybe they just know that the only reason guys watch the channel is for the hot chicks. (Because let’s face it, the only people who watches their channel for “the story” are squealing 15-year old girls.) Recently the CW had their official launch party, and babes in attendance included “Smallville’s” Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance, “Veronica Mars’” 30-year old teenager Kristen Bell, Brittany “The Body” Daniel, “Seventh Heavenly” Beverly Mitchell, Hilarie “Who?” Burton, and of course, the “Gilmore Girl” herself, Lauren Graham.
