Rose McGowan’s Red Sonja Posters
Who would have thunk that after all the rumors that Rose McGowan was going to play space slut — er, I mean, space adventurer Barbarella, that the first posters we’d get of Rose in barely any clothes would be posters for … Red Sonja? That’s right. They’ve made up posters for a new version of “Red Sonja” set to star Rose McGowan. Now you may not think a girl as pale and not-all-that-bulky as Rose McGowan could actually sell herself as a barbarian Queen like Red Sonja, but then again you haven’t considered the magic of photoshop yet. Check out these concept art poster/whatever of Rose McGowan as Red Sonja. Yeah, yeah, I know that cleavage isn’t real, but don’t tell my other brain that.
GRINDHOUSE Weekend Tally is Horrific
“Grindhouse’s” Friday night was disappointing, but there was a chance it could make up for it with a better Saturday and Sunday. But perhaps that was too optimistic. The weekend tally is in, and in 3 days, “Grindhouse” has scored a terrible $11.6 million, nearly $9 million below its expected box office take. The film, budgeted at $53 million, should have done better with the young crowd on a less-than-busy weekend. You have Tarantino, you have Rodriguez — and the results are … $11 million??? Forget about recouping the budget at the domestic box office. The producers will now have to hope for a better overseas box office and strong DVD sales, which should be within reach.
Rose McGowan is a B-Movie Queen
Coming off the much hyped and soon to be a hit “Grindhouse”, the Quentin Taraninto and Robert Rodriguez co-movie, former “Charmed” babe Rose McGowan is about to enter the realm of B-movies by starring in “Black Oasis”. Variety reports that McGowan has signed on to play Susan Cabot (pictured left) in the movie, whose life in B-movies came to a tragic conclusion at the age of 59 when her son bludgeoned her to death. Cabot had been in the films “Machine-Gun Kelly” and “The Wasp Woman”. The film will be directed by Stephan Elliot (”Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”). Looks like someone’s saved her movie career!
Rose McGowan does “Grindhouse” for Maxim
Rose McGowan is in the latest issue of Maxim Magazine, and dressed up in her “Grindhouse” gear. Or at least, she’s doing the whole “Grindhouse” (the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino exploitation double feature that she stars in) thing on the cover. One can only hope that she follows through in the rest of the issue. Then again, I don’t know if seeing a hot girl with a machinegun for her right leg is really that hot, and if I really want to see it. You know what? Now that I have given it a third thought, I’m going to say I hope she doesn’t follow through on the whole “Grindhouse” thing in the rest of her Maxim appearance. Lingerie or bikini will do just fine.
Charmed Cancelled, The Women Still Hot
Word comes from the WB that “Charmed”, about three (four?) sisters who are also good witches that battles the forces of Evil and other such in good ol San Francisco, has been cancelled. Bummer. This means Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Rose McGowan will have to find another job. Also what crummy timing, especially with the show having just added the smoking Kaley Cuoco, former refugee from that John Ritter sitcom. Oh well.
