It ain’t your mom and dad’s “The Wizard of Oz”, that’s for sure. It’s the Sci Fi Channel’s version of “Oz”, an original mini-series called “Tin Man”, starring Kathleen Robertson and Zooey Deschanel. Here’s the plot: The miniseries centers on DG (Deschanel), a young woman plucked from her humdrum life and thrust into The Outer Zone (the O.Z.), a fantastical realm filled with wonder, but oppressed by dark magic. DG discovers her true identity, battles evil winged monkey-bats and attempts to fulfill her destiny. Her perilous journey begins on the fabled Old Road that leads to a wizard known as the Mystic Man. Along the way, she is joined by “Glitch,” an odd man missing half his brain; “Raw,” a quietly powerful wolverine-like creature longing for inner courage; and “Cain,” a heroic former policeman (known in the O.Z. as a “Tin Man”), who is seeking vengeance for his scarred heart. Ultimately, DG’s destiny leads her to a showdown with the wicked sorceress Azkadellia (Robertson), whose ties to DG are closer than anyone could have imagined.”

Zooey Deschanel is Dorothy in “The Tin Man” aka “The Wizard of Oz Redux”

Zooey Deschanel, little sister of “Bones” star Emily Deschanel, and the last woman on Earth after our fair planet was obliterated in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” to make room for an intergalactic freeway, will be slipping on Dorothy’s slippers and Sunday dress for the Sci Fi Channel’s new mini-series “Tin Man”, their “re-imagining” (re: unnecessary slaughter) of “The Wizard of Oz”. She’ll be joining Alan Cumming, with shooting to start sometime in March for a December 2007 premiere. Gee, I can’t wait. Well, yes, I can. You know what I mean. Read on…

Meet the Deschanel Sisters

The Deschanel sisters are kinda like the Hilton sisters, except they actually have talent, can act, and aren’t total skanks. Wait, they aren’t like the Hiltons at all! Anyways, here is Emily and Zooey Deschanel. You may recognize Zooey from “The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” or “Elf”, and big sis Emily is currently the star of Fox’s “Bones” with David Boreanaz. By the way, is it wrong of me to think of these pictures, with the two sisters together, as sorta hot?
