I actually first heard about this on the news (so you know it has to be true, ahem), that some Chinese company was promoting a miraculous “slimming patch” that claims you can slap the patch on the part of your body that you want to lose wait from, wait a few days, and then the patch (called “America Seven-Point Thinness”) would “miraculously” suck away the fat. Um, yeah. They also claim that the patch comes from America, and that one of their clients was Chelsea Clinton, who lost “12 kilograms in less than a month” thanks to the magical patch. As it turns out, this was a Chinese scam, as the patches are made and comes from a part of China itself.
Says Reuters about the scam:
Though it claimed to be imported from the United States — where the advertisements said it was a top seller and used by Chelsea Clinton — it was actually made by a company from the nearby industrial city of Tianjin, the newspaper said.
In the few months it was on the market, the commercials helped propel sales to more than 200 million yuan ($A30.7 million), it added.
Now China is investigating.
Frankly, I don’t think Chelsea should worry about losing weight. She’s got other problems to worry about, such as the fact that she’s looking more and more like her mom every day. Have you seen her mom lately? Sorry, Chelsea! Get ready for those thunder thighs, babe!
