This goes to show you kids: Military coups are never a good thing unless you lived under the tyrannical rule of Skeletor or, say, Rosie O’Donnell. But when the “worst” thing your rightfully elected Prime Minister did was sell some his company for a few gazillion dollars, that’s not exactly an excuse to roll the tanks into the cities. In any case, Thailand is clearly frakkin’ out of its mind, and nothing proves this more than the vile reaction to actress Chotiros Amy Suriyawong, who showed up at the Thai version of the Oscars wearing a revealing black dress modeled after Elizabeth Hurley’s. (See pics below.) As punishment for her “crimes” against Thailand’s morality police, the poor girl was fired from a couple of acting jobs and has been forced to perform community service by reading to the blind. I absolutely, positively sh-t you not.
Here’s the story from UPI:
BANGKOK, Feb. 17 (UPI) — The Thai actress known as “Amy” has been ordered to perform community service for wearing a dress deemed too revealing at an awards ceremony.
Chotiros Suriyawong, 22, has also been axed from her latest movie project amid the uproar over her couture at Thailand’s version of the Academy Awards.
The Independent described the daring frock as one based on “Elizabeth Hurley’s well-known safety-pin number.” The Versace number Hurley wore to a premier in 1994 featured a neckline that didn’t so much plunge as free fall.
The newspaper said Amy was caught up in a “morality drive” launched by the military government that seized power in Thailand last fall.
