Bad news today for World Wrestling Entertainment fans, but most of all for the WWE, as authorities in Fayette County, Georgia has announced that WWE superstar wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and his son were found dead in their home in Atlanta. This is not a good time for the WWE to have to burden such a brutal crime, coming in the aftermath of former WWE wrestler “Sensational” Sherri Martel’s death and the faux “assassination” of WWE head honcho Vince McMahon, which of course is nothing but a fictional storyline, the kind that the WWE invents every other week to keep fans entertained. And now this? Yikes.
The WWE said this on their site:
Chris was beloved among his fellow Superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability. He always took great pride in his performance, and always showed respect for the business he loved, for his peers and towards his fans. This is a terrible tragedy and an unbearable loss.
Considering all the crazy stunts the WWE have pulled recently, I’m willing to bet there will be a lot of fans who will think this is another “storyline”, which will probably make what has happened even more tragic.
