David Goyer’s SUPER MAX to be Green Arrow Movie?
Via AICN, here’s a very strange article about David Goyer coming off the now-dead Flash movie to do a Green Arrow movie. Except it won’t be called Green Arrow, but instead the awful B-movie sounding “Super Max”. The article in question appears in Wizard, where Goyer explains that “Super Max” will be about Green Arrow getting framed and sentenced to a superpowered prison, where he’ll have to face superpowered villains, some he was responsible for sending away. Arrow then has to team up with some of these villains to escape to clear his name.
It gets weirder:
“He’s Green Arrow for the first 10 minutes of the movie, and then he’s arrested and his secret identity is revealed,” says Goyer, who also has plans to do a graphic novel or miniseries that would tie in to the possible film. “They shave his goatee and they take his costume and send him to prison for life, and he has to escape. It’s like ‘Alcatraz,’ and he has to team up with, in some cases, some of the very same villains he is responsible for incarcerating in order to get out and clear his name. Of course, tons of people try to kill him while he’s in there. We’ve populated the prison with all sorts of B and C villains from the DC Universe. For the fans, there will be all sorts of characters the hardcore comic book junkies will know, but they’re all going to be there under their human names and no one is wearing a costume, but there will be a lot of characters with powers and things like that.”
This all sounds like an April Fool’s joke to me, but the article was posted on April 7th, so no, it’s not somebody’s joke, because frankly, this all sounds too stupid. I mean, a Green Arrow movie not called Green Arrow?
Of course it’s possible. Goyer could populate the prison with B and C-list DCU villains that can get killed off. But I don’t get why he would even bother with making the character Green Arrow in the first place. Why not just make a superhero movie with the same plot, but with a fresh set of characters? It’s not like Ma and Pa Joe Public knows who the hell the Green Arrow is. Even kids don’t know, and if they do know, they’re probably associating him with that dork in the green hood and sunglasses that showed up on “Smallville”.
Anyways, this sounds stupid to me, but what do I know. Read the full Wizard article here.

Green Arrow never misses. Unless it’s Tuesday.
