DISTURBIA Continues Box Office Domination

Nicolas Cage and Jessica Biel couldn’t push the teen thriller “Disturbia” from the top spot, where it continues its reign for a third consecutive weak in what is being called a weak month for the American box office. The teen ghost movie “The Invisible” landed at #2 with $7.6 million in its debut, while Cage and Biel’s “Next” landed in third with $7.2 million, also in its debut. Two other new films, the Steve Austin starrer “The Condemned” barely scratched out the 9th spot with $4.0 million, while the Jamie Kennedy comedy “Kickin’ It Old Skool” moonwalked its way into a lowly $2.8 million in 11th place. Of course, once “Spider-Man 3″ opens next week, none of these guys will get any action, so I guess it’s academic.

And yes, I’m sure Sarah Roemer in a bikini had nothing to do with “Disturbia’s” inexplicable success.
