Apparently there are problems with the movie, according to this article, which says about the 6-years-in-the-making movie, that it was “roundly booed when it previewed at the Venice Film Festival.” Say it ain’t so, Darren! I can’t believe that Aronofsky can possibly make a bad movie. After all, this is the guy who made math fun in “Pi”! And most of all, “The Fountain” is one movie I have been dying to see ever since I heard about it. It’s written and directed by Aronofsky (”Requiem for a Dream”) and stars his fiancee, Rachel Weisz and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.
Spanning over one thousand years, and three parallel stories, “The Fountain” is a story of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world.
I’m still holding out that the audience at Venice just didn’t “get” what Aronofsky was trying to do. The guy is a friggin genius. Could he have made a stinker? Certainly. Did he? I have my doubts…
Anyways, some stills from the movie below.
