I’m not a very big fan of John Leguizamo, the star of the upcoming 8-hour mini-series “The Kill Pit”, but I’m a major fan of Donnie Wahlberg ever since his tour of duty on the HBO mini-series “Band of Brothers”. Wahlberg will be stepping into fatigues again, of sorts, for “The Kill Pit”, about a team of Iraqi War veterans who return home and decide to rob a downtown Pittsburg bank, but end up holding hostages when the robbery goes awry. The mini-serires stars Leguizamo as Wolf, the leader of the veteran/robbers, while Wahlberg will be playing a police negotiator who has to talk them out of it.
“The Kill Pit” will probably be (unless I’m mistaken) the first original mini-series ever produced and aired on the fledging cable station Spike TV. The premise of “Pit” sounds a little bit like the failed ABC show “The Nine”, but there’s a difference: as a mini-series, “Pit” doesn’t have to come up with goofy ways to sustain it’s premise. It’s 8 hours and out.
In an interview, Wahlberg said this about his character:
My character is young and confident and a little quirky… He’s got some obsessive-compulsive things. He’s sort of this cocky negotiator and thinks this is going to be a textbook negotiation … but what is about to unfold is much bigger than anyone can imagine. Suddenly this guy is going to be faced with the biggest challenge of his career. His quirks and idiosyncrasies become even more fun for me as an actor.
I’m really looking forward to this one now.

Donnie Wahlberg as Sgt. Carwood Lipton in HBO’s “Band of Brothers”.
