I know this is going to come as a shock to some people, but the Sci Fi Channel is actually making a TV show based on a — gulp! — sci-fi concept! I know, right? Who didn’t think the Sci Fi Channel only made crappy B-grade monster movies and trying to pass off crappy B-grade horror movies as “sci fi”. But I digress. News from the network’s blog is that a series based on the sci fi character Flash Gordon is commencing in Canada earlier this year. The first year of “Flash Gordon” will include 22 one-hour episodes, and “the characters of Ming, Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov will be brought back for a contemporary retelling of the comic-strip story created in 1934 by Alex Raymond.”
