Do I even have to keep saying it? All my daily readers (all 6 of you) know that I am insane about Frank Miller’s upcoming (in 3 days!!!) “300″ movie adaptation of his graphic novels. I love the graphic novels, and from everything I’ve seen of the movie, I know I’m going to be squirming in my seat with giddy delight, the way fat kids squirm with giddy delight when they hear the ice cream truck coming. Anyways, Moviehole recently did an interview with Frank Miller, and he talked extensively about “300″ and a little bit about “Sin City 2″. I would have liked to know more about “Sin City 2″, but what the hell, you can’t look a gift horse in the mouth. (Did I even say that expression right? Oh whatever.) Read on…
Here’s the most interesting part of the interview. Miller talks about his fascination with “300″ and how it came about:
I was a 5-year-old boy when I saw “300 Spartans”, a movie made in 1962. I had never seen a story where the heroes died before. It led to a life long fascination with that battle and that war, and it became a story I never stopped talking about. So, once I thought I could draw and write it well enough I went to Greece and began the research, and a few years later produced the book. It haunted me ever since I was a little kid.
I’ve been a major fan of the guy’s work for the last 20 years and I didn’t even know that. Go figure.
And for those who wants to know if the movie is as good as the graphic novels, Miller answers that:
I almost couldn’t believe I was seeing it, and I also couldn’t believe how many of my favorite lines had been kept. There were lines I was praying would make it, like when Xerxes spoke of sharing a culture and Leonidas answered: “We have been sharing a culture with you all morning,” referring to have been slaughtering them all morning. Honestly, I was practically doing handstands when I saw it!
Need I say it? Dang I’m excited. Just a teeny weeny bit.
And about “Sin City 2″? Not much, but here it is anyway:
The script is written and we will start casting very soon. Robert Rodriguez and I will co-direct together again.

“Hey, what the frag? Nancy Callahan is a stripper, that means she dances naked, dumbass! What’re you trying to pull with this ’stripper with her clothes on’ crap?”
