There had been a lot of rumors and talk about “Sin City 2″ running into trouble with ego problems between co-directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, but apparently that’s all out of the way, or at least according to Miller, who said this: “The script is largely done, and now we’re in that limbo zone where we’re casting and making script adjustments as we go.” He also mentions that “he hopes to be in Texas to shoot the film by late spring”, which is just fine and dandy with me. “Sin City” was a breathtaking ride through a never-before-seen ultraviolet nightmarish (and at the same time, dreamy) world built from a foundation of noir. Part two, to be based on Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For” series, should be as good, if not better, as it’s a singular story and not the mish-mash that was the first “Sin City”, so expect more coherence and face time for Clive Owen, who should return as Dwight, the hero of “Dame”. According to Miller, Jessica Alba and her character Nancy Callahan would also return. Let’s just hope Alba does a lot of dancing and stripping and not too much acting stuff; the poor girl tries so hard, but is just so awful at this whole “acting” thing.
Casting for the female lead, the femme fatale/temptress Ava had Angelina Jolie in the part, then Rachel Weisz. Miller doesn’t say who has nabbed the role, but I’m still holding out hope that Jolie gets the part. If you’ve read “A Dame to Kill Fore”, you’ll understand why.
