Today brings us a classic case of Good News, Bad News, boys and girls. The good news is that the producers who did Frank Miller’s “300″ now wants to bring his other graphic novel, “Ronin” to the big screen just like “300″. The bad news? They’ve tapped Sylvain White, the guy who did “Stomp the Yard”, to direct it. Yes, this is great news and crappy news all in the same breath. In “Ronin”, a Japanese ronin (a masterless Samurai) is re-incarnated in a dystopic near-future New York, and much bloodletting ensues. You know, your normal Sunday morning in present New York.
Updated: Via BlackFilm.com, director Sylvain White talks about “Ronin”:
“We are working off different scripts and trying to polish them. We are working off different versions that we got a couple of different authors. There’s a really nice presentation that goes with it. It’s basically saving the world back and forth and looking to develop it further once we set it up with Warner Bros. Warner Bros. has a first look deal on the film after the project was placed in turnaround.”

“Directed by the guy who did ‘Stop the Friggin’ Yard?’ For this I got re-incarnated? The future blows.”
