GRINDHOUSE Disappoints on Opening Night

Topics: Movie Stuff, Robert Rodriguez

It’s only been one day, but it was an important day — Friday, when “Grindhouse’s” main audience should have flocked to see a movie aimed primarily at them on opening night. Instead, “Grindhouse” barely managed a measly $5 million in its debut, coming in at #4 behind top headliners “Blades of Glory” and “Meet the Robinsons” and, more embarassingly, the Ice Cube comedy “Are We Done Yet?” Now I can understand “Grindhouse” failing to beat “Blades of Glory” and the CGI “Meet the Robinsons”, but “Are We Done Yet?” Talk about getting beaten, thrown off the balcony, and then beaten with an umbrella. Sheesh.

Even a machinegun leg didn’t help. Damn.
